The Maine Forest Products Council recently voted to organize a political action committee – The Maine Forest Legacy PAC --that will be dedicated to electing a pro-forest industry legislature.

The recent Legislative session showed us just how important it is to have a Legislature that understands how the Maine economy works. When faced with a Maine Supreme Court decision that would have sent workers’ compensation costs skyrocketing, we needed both a business-friendly Governor and several savvy legislators to help us pass legislation to overturn the decision.

The Maine Forest Legacy PAC will raise funds to be used in support of legislative and gubernatorial candidates who support our industry and who will work to preserve and enhance our business opportunities. The Maine Forest Legacy PAC will endorse candidates based upon personal interviews, responses to questionnaires, and incumbent voting records. The MFPC Executive Committee will assist in grading candidates and will oversee endorsement decisions.

All contributions will be used to support Maine Forest Legacy PAC endorsed candidates, as well as to fund election activities by Maine Forest Legacy PAC on behalf of those candidates. For more information, please contact the Maine Forest Legacy PAC at 622-9288.
